An interactive fun inspiring stand encouraging a collective approach for people to take action for nature. Like the roots of a tree we stand strong together for a better future for everyone.

Keeping it Wild is all about connecting with nature and each other. They are wildlife campaigners, conservationists, fundraisers, adventurers and your new best friends! They manage their own reserve on behalf of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, collaborate with and visit other trusts, and love a good board game! Keeping it Wild is a youth-led volunteer group based in Nottingham City Centre, meeting up at least once a week to plan, organise and carry out nature-based conservation. Fun, free and Friendly! Keeping it Wild, a group of like-minded 13 – 25 year old’s who are passionate about nature, conservation and adventure!

Our stall will be green and sustainable by using reusable display materials, avoiding single-use plastics, and providing digital access to resources via QR codes instead of printed handouts. We will also encourage active travel by promoting local sites involved in the programme. The lasting impact will come from raising awareness of biodiversity in urban agriculture and inspiring long-term citizen engagement through the Citizen-monitoring of Urban Agriculture Biodiversity programme. Visitors will leave with the knowledge and tools to get involved in ecological monitoring and contribute to a more biodiverse, nature-connected city.

Emmanuel House Support Centre
Local homelessness charity Emmanuel House will be hosting a pop-up charity shop, selling pre-loved clothes, accessories and up-cycled items to raise funds for their services.

Description
Emmanuel House is a local charity that supports people who are homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in Nottingham. They focus on "Prevention, Intervention, and Recovery", to ensure people are supported at every step of their journey towards housing security. They have a charity shop in Hockley, which sells second-hand clothes and accessories to raise funds for services. Supporters donate clothes that they no longer want, which are given to people who are homeless, or are sold in the charity shop, meaning that fewer clothes get thrown away. Some of the items for sale are up-cycled from clothes and accessories that would otherwise be unfit for purchase, such as handmade bohemian style bags made by one of their volunteers.

Any marketing materials (flyers etc.) that are handed out will be recyclable and have the message "please recycle me" on the back. QR codes that people can scan to find out more information if they do not want to take a flyer. Encouraging people to donate their unwanted clothing to the Emmanuel House charity shop (with the aim to reduce textile waste and provide more income for the charity's services) with the hopes of inspiring them to shop second-hand more often.

Guidance and Growth is a community group supporting local people in making green spaces better and learning new skills in gardening and woodworking. They have various sessions that support men, giving them a safe space to talk to others with lived experience so that peer-to-peer support can be given. Products are either grown themselves, or made from wood and slate that would otherwise be thrown away.

Guidance and Growth use a lot of up-cycled/ recycled pots, saving them going to landfill. Visitors are encouraged to start their journey in growing their own food and learn new skills. The Fantastic Home exhibition is a mobile energy efficiency exhibition – a “house on wheels” – which offers home energy efficiency and domestic renewables advice in a fun, interactive and engaging way.

In Nottingham, a Climate and Ecological Emergency was declared by the City Council in January 2020. This means that tackling the climate crisis became one of the top priorities for the city. Since then, Nottingham set an ambition to be the first carbon neutral city in the UK by 2028. To help get there, Carbon Neural Nottingham created an action plan that has more than 250 actions. Completing these will help to reduce the city’s carbon emissions, remove carbon emissions from the atmosphere, protect the city from the impacts of climate change, and also improve nature in Nottingham.
